The first six players picked during the first round of the Mzansi Super League draft will be paid R1 million each.
They are Chris Morris (Nelson Mandela Bay Giants), Morne Morkel (Tshwane Spartans), David Miller (Durban Heat), JP Duminy (Paarl Rocks), Rassie van der Dussen (Jozi Stars), and Liam Livingstone (Cape Town Blitz).
The player draft for the 2019 MSL took place in Soweto on Tuesday.
Each franchise spent R5.325 million at the draft, for a total of R31.95 million. The money spent by the six teams will be paid by Cricket South Africa.
“The MSL is now an established global brand that is taking its place at the head table alongside the other global T20 events,” said CSA CEO Thabang Moroe in August. “We have drawn interest from around the world with players applying from virtually all the top-tier international countries.”
