NEWS: Ledwaba Vows to Fight SAFA

25 Jun 2020

Football administrator Ria Ledwaba is on course for a showdown with the SA Football Association after she vowed to challenge her removal as one of SAFA’s vice-presidents.

Ledwaba and former Acting CEO Gay Mokoena were removed from their seats after a dramatic national executive committee meeting last weekend.

She was accused of disregarding protocol and stepping outside the sport’s internal procedures after she wrote a letter to Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa asking for intervention in SAFA affairs, specifically those handled by SAFA President Danny Jordaan.

SAFA Communications Director Dominic Chimhavi said the procedures that led to Ledwaba’s removal were done by the book, but that she was within her rights to challenge the decision.
