Central Gauteng Lions Welcomes New Partners

The Central Gauteng Lions welcomed a host of new partners at their recent annual awards evening.

Longstanding partners 947, Sun International, Hirsch, Sunbet, Imperial Toyota, Shrey, ACS Pharma and Sedgars will once again form part of the CGL set-up, whilst The Star newspaper has been added, covering the print and online news side of things. The 947 expanded partnership includes coverage of the CGL men and women’s semi-professional teams. 

The Central Gauteng Lions also welcomed a new associate sponsor, in the form of Enza Construction,  a 99% black-owned and managed turnkey solutions leader in the construction industry.

“Sport shifts the focus of our youth into positive activities and it creates a unified vision amongst team players and builds camaraderie, which is what Enza is all about,” said Executive Director Clinton Crowie. “We trust that our partnership will be the start of something great and will go a long way in making a positive impact on the youth in South Africa.”    

Konica Minolta, the longest-standing sponsor in Lions Cricket has departed, making way for the new Lions team naming rights partner, Imperial Logistics. Operating primarily in Africa and Europe and ranked in the top 30 global logistics providers, the group employs over 25 000 people in 32 countries. 

“Sport has the power to inspire and the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand,” said Imperial Logistics Group CEO, Mohammed Akoojee. “At Imperial, we share this passion for sport, nation building and youth empowerment, and this was the catalyst for our support of the Lions Cricket team.”
