The National Football League (NFL) and Nike have unveiled the new Colour Rush uniforms for all 32 NFL clubs.
Launched in 2015 with eight teams, Colour Rush brings a full head-to-toe monochromatic look to the NFL gridiron. The designs drew inspiration from both current and historic uniform schemes — celebrating the hallmarks of each club’s identity.
Participating teams will take the field wearing a special Colour Rush edition of Nike’s Vapor Untouchable uniform exclusively on Thursday Night Football in 2016.
Last year’s monochromatic uniforms had made an impact on the field for most viewers. The problem for some viewers – those with colorblindness – was that they couldn’t distinguish which team was which. To rectify that problem, Nike is giving options to some teams to wear all white to contrast with their opposition.
Furthermore, Nike will sell each team’s chosen colour at retail stores and all proceeds will benefit the NFL Foundation, funding youth health, safety and wellness programs.
The first $500,000 raised from this initiative will be earmarked to replace youth and high school football equipment and fields lost in last month’s devastating floods in Louisiana.
