Cricket Australia has today announced the renewal of the exciting, family-friendly partnership between global kid’s entertainment brand, Nickelodeon and the KFC Big Bash League (BBL).
The new one-year deal follows the success of the partnership during BBL|06 and ensures Nickelodeon will continue to work closely with Cricket Australia to further strengthen the KFC BBL’s position as one of the best family entertainment options in the country this Summer. The partnership will see the roll-out of a range of new and exciting at-match activities, digital promotions and more throughout the upcoming Big Bash season.
The summer of Big Bash entertainment commences in less than a month, with a blockbuster opening weekend of the Rebel WBBL|03, following the resounding success of the second season of the WBBL. The fun will begin with a free, carnival-style event across Saturday 9 December and Sunday 10 December, featuring four matches in Sydney at the North Sydney Oval precinct, ensuring this weekend is the perfect start to the season. The action-packed weekend launching the WBBL|03 season leads into the commencement of the KFC BBL|07 a week later, with the Sydney Thunder hosting the Sydney Sixers in the much-anticipated Sydney Smash at Spotless Stadium on Tuesday 19 December.
Nickelodeon will bring free family entertainment to matches throughout BBL|07 as well as the opening weekend of the Rebel WBBL|03. This year at selected Nick Sports matches^, fans can look out for Nickelodeon activities on the ground including a giant inflatable pitch, Nicket (Nickelodeon’s take on cricket), the Nick Squad and lots of prizes and surprises!
During matches^, Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be giving fans the chance to win family passes to Nickelodeon Beach at Wet’n’Wild Sydney, and family trips to Nickelodeon Land at Sea World on the Gold Coast with accommodation at Sea World Resort. There will also be two exclusive opportunities to win incredible family holidays to the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in Los Angeles in March, as part of a season long digital competition. The only way the Australian public can secure tickets to the coveted Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is through the BBL.

For the second year running, Nickelodeon will also be working with CA to bring slime covered fun to the KFC BBL and Rebel WBBL through children’s television programming. The show is set to be hosted by former professional cricket player and Australian Survivor finalist, Lee Carseldine alongside kid-favourite Kristy Best, and will be jam-packed with fun stunts, pranks and jokes a Nickelodeon goes behind the scenes of the BBL and WBBL this summer.
Prices for the BBL season remain unchanged for the seventh consecutive year, with adult tickets from $20, kids tickets from $5, and family tickets from $42.50*. With an extended season, boasting more matches in more locations across Australia including Canberra, Geelong, Launceston and Alice Springs, even more fans can take advantage of the great value the BBL offers, which has seen the competition become the most affordable, must-attend family entertainment option over Summer.
The BBL regular season now comprises of 40 matches, increased from 32 matches in BBL|06, in addition to the existing two Semi Finals and the Final. Matches are to be played across school holidays, and the full season will be broadcast live on Network Ten and across the Macquarie Radio Network. Building on the excitement of another impressive broadcast schedule, 12 matches of the WBBL will also be broadcast live on Network ten, with the remaining 45 matches livestreamed on the CA Live platform.
The expansion of the BBL schedule comes with another lineup of blockbuster matches, including the BBL|06 reigning champions Perth Scorchers hosting the Melbourne Stars on Boxing Day at the WACA, a New Year’s Eve showdown between the Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Sixers at Adelaide Oval, and the first Melbourne Derby on the afternoon of Tuesday 6 January at the MCG. The BBL|07 season will also
feature 22 double-headers with the Rebel WBBL|03, giving fans the opportunity to catch the exciting action from both competitions with the one ticket.
The BBL has continued to build its popularity with fans young and old over the past six seasons, thanks to the combination of fast-paced action on the field, exciting local and international talent, and a safe, family-friendly atmosphere off-field, which Nickelodeon amplify.
