The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon welcomes Fedhealth Medical Scheme to its stable of sponsors for the first time this year, in a partnership that highlights the value and importance of living a healthy lifestyle.
The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon strives to make a positive impact on the world through its Run4Change legacy programme, and partnering with Fedhealth fits perfectly within the objectives of the health pillar of this beneficial programme. “Promotion of good health through active recreation, physical education, exercise and good nutrition are top of mind when striving to fulfil our goals,” says race director Janet Welham.
Jeremy Yatt, Fedhealth principal officer, believes that its sponsorship of the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will help the medical aid brand to increase its reach, while at the same time expose its many members to this fantastic weekend festival of running.
Fedhealth Medical Aid is all about promoting healthy, active lifestyles among its members. “We enjoy seeing our members and their families having a blast over physical activities in the great outdoors, as it’s a wonderful way to ensure wholesome family connections and fitness,” says Yatt. “Of course, as a medical scheme, we’re also concerned about the high incidence of lifestyle diseases such as Type-2 Diabetes and hypertension in the country, and we place a great importance on the role that physical fitness plays in curbing these diseases.”
From a business perspective, the Fedhealth partnership also makes perfect sense, with the medical scheme’s emphasis on physical fitness and wellbeing echoing Sanlam’s promotion of the financial fitness and wellbeing of its clients; the marathon’s title sponsor. “We are sure that this partnership will inspire our members and their peers to hit the pavement hard in preparation for this world-class event in breathtaking Cape Town,” says Yatt.
As a sporting event, the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is going from strength to strength. Set in one of the world’s most beautiful cities, the annual two-day running festival promotes a healthy, active lifestyle for people of all ages and fitness levels. The marathon has seen entries nearly double from 2014 to 2017, and are hoping to reach the 28 000 mark across all the events in 2018. Therefore Fedhealth believes its association with this event can only be of a positive nature, because what’s not to love about a well-organised event that gets people moving?
The Fedhealth family is looking forward to fully immersing themselves in the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon experience they’ve heard so much about. Yatt says: “We’re sure that we will be impressed every step of the way, especially by the special Cape Town vibe. In short, knock our socks off, Sanlam Cape Town Marathon!”
