Cape Town City have announced that the club has secured a sponsor deal with SportPesa. The Cape Town based club did not have a title shirt sponsor in their inaugural campaign. However, days before City get their 2017/18 campaign underway,they announced Africa's leading gaming platform SportPesa as the club's new shirt sponsor.
"It's the first ever in South African football and we're pleased to announce our new sponsor SportPesa," said club owner John Comitis at a press conference held in Cape Town.
"SportPesa are a betting company who are partners with various clubs, including English giants Arsenal. It's more than a commercial decision but a football one.
"We've signed a 4-year deal and we'd like to thank SportPesa for the opportunity. This is a credit to you the players for this deal."
New head coach, Benni McCarthy added, "I'd like to thank SportPesa and with their help this adds to City being able to achieve our goals for the upcoming season and gives us added confidence as a club to compete."
