HOW DO I ENTER?

Entries for the Sport Industry Awards 2018 are open from 8 December 2017 and close on 26 February 2018. You can view all the categories available to enter here. The ENTER AWARD buttons will reveal the criteria for each category. To enter that award, select the ENTER NOW button at the end of the criteria, where you will be able to complete your contact information.

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ENTER?

Each entry costs R1 650+VAT, with the exception of Agency of the Year, which costs R 2 750+VAT in order to cover the costs of the additional judging day.

If you are not sure, we would encourage you to read the criteria for each relevant category on the enter page to see which one(s) are right for you. Additionally, we have an over-arching information guide called “Who Should Enter[G2] to give you some guidance too. I'VE SUBMITTED MY INFORMATION ONLINE. NOW WHAT?

Once you have completed your contact information, you will receive an automated email from Sport Industry Group with a link to download the entry form for the category you have entered. You will then receive an email from Eddy Fwamba who will confirm that your entry has been registered. The email will also provide you with full details of what is required by each of the deadlines, along with your entry invoice.

WHAT IS THE JUDGING PERIOD FOR THE WORK ASSESSED?

All categories are judged for work from 1st January 2017 and 31st December 2017.

 

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES?

Entries close at 17.00pm on 26 February 2018.

 

WHAT SUPPORTING INFORMATION CAN BE SUPPLIED?

Please refer to the specific award category as certain categories differ in terms of limitations. It is important to adhere to any restrictions placed on quantity and size of supporting materials. Your supporting information is an opportunity to display additional evidence of the successes of your entry so refer to these in your entry to ensure their relevance. Remember that the supporting information should be about your work and relate specifically to your entry. Please note that due to the high number of entries we are unable to return any supporting information.

 

WHAT DOES IT MEAN BY BUDGET (IN THE ENTRY FORM)?

We encourage all entrants to provide as much detail as possible in order to offer the Judging Panel a broad reflection of your work or campaign. You are also welcome to break down individual budgets within this area, if applicable. All information submitted is strictly confidential. WHEN IS THE SHORTLIST ANNOUNCED?

The Official Shortlist will be announced in the week on 16th of March 2018.

 

HOW ARE THE AWARDS JUDGED?

The judging process for the Sport Industry Awards is one of the most transparent and stringent procedures of its kind, fully overseen by independent auditors Deloitte.

The process begins with the entries being reviewed and judged by Sport Industry Awards Steering Committees. Made up of more than 50 key industry experts, the Steering Committees feature heavyweights from the entire spectrum of the sport industry. It takes a little more than one week to determine the Official Shortlist.

The Official Shortlist is then given to the final Judging Panel who will decide the winner of each category announced at the Sport Industry Awards. Find out more about the process here

 

HOW IS THE AGENCY OF THE YEAR CATEGORY JUDGED?

Following the Official Shortlist announcement on 16th of March 2018, a Judging Sub-Committee will visit each of the shortlisted agencies at their offices, for a total of 40 minutes each. If a shortlisted agency’s office is not in the Gauteng province, we ask that the agency sources a presentation space– if this is not possible then Sport Industry Group will help provide a venue. Further details will be provided to each shortlisted agency.

HOW DO THE PRESENTATIONS FOR BRAND OF THE YEAR AND CAMPAIGN OF THE YEAR WORK?

Following the Official Shortlist announcement on 16th of March 2018, each of the shortlisted entries in Brand of the Year and Campaign of the Year will be contacted by Sport Industry Group to discuss the presentation which will happen on Judging day. Each entrant can have a maximum of 3 people presenting their award entries and each presentation will be limited in time. You will be required to deliver a presentation and field questions from the judges.

 

WILL I RECEIVE FEEDBACK IF MY ENTRY IS NOT SHORTLISTED?

We collate feedback from notes made by Deloitte, who oversees the entire judging process, and can provide feedback on request.

 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ATTEND?

A number of table packages are available for the event, these will be made available on the Sport Industry Group website.

 

WHEN AND WHERE DOES THE EVENT TAKE PLACE?

The Sport Industry Awards will take place on in the final week of May or early in June. Details of this will be made available on the Sport Industry Group website.

 

IS THERE CAR PARKING AVAILABLE AT THE VENUE?

This will be confirmed closer to the event.

The Sport Industry Awards is a formal occasion to match the importance and gravitas of the awards and  the event.
